Could Twinkie be the ultimate Incredible Hulk fan?

On display: Hulk Car from The Fast & The Furious Tokyo Drift - 2005 Volkswagen Touran

In a movie about fast racing cars, the 2005 Volkswagen Touran driven by Twinkie (played by Bow Wow) stood out because it was “twinked” out to be a Hulk mobile. It was a nice metallic green, of course. In some shots, it kinda looked a light candy apple green. Painted at the front was the angry face of the Incredible Hulk. On the side and the back, the fists and foot of the Incredible Hulk were molded as if he was trying to break out from within and he had dented the enclosing walls of the car from inside. It’s really neat to see. Not sure if I’ll drive anything like it. But it will definitely get you some attention.

Kotobukiya’s Hulk Fine Art Statues

One of the neatest collector items for comic book fans had been a fine art statue of their favorite super hero. Kotobukiya, one of the world’s premier manufacturer of collectible figures from Japan, happened to have a suite of Marvel superhero collection in its lineup. And 2008 they opened up an office in Los Angeles.

Since 1989, Kotobukiya had been marketing two popular brands of collectible figures: ArtFX Statues (vinyl) and Fine Art Statues (resin). For the 2008 movie, they released three collectible Incredible Hulk Movie Fine Art Statues:

They also have a collection for Iron Man, Blade, Fantastic Four, Daredevil, X-Men, and the Punisher. Along with Bowen Designs, there should be plenty of neat collector statues for Hulk and Marvel comic book fans.

Todd McFarlane and the Hulk

I quickly touched on the works of popular artist, Todd McFarlane, with the Incredible Hulk. Today, Todd McFarlane is well known for his own brand of products, among them is the superhero character, Spawn.

At some point, early in his career, Todd McFarlane worked for Marvel comics and he penciled Spider-Man, Wolverine, and the Hulk. If you haven’t had the chance to read Torment, buy the trade paper back. It’s fantastic piece of work.

Incredible Hulk Wii Video Game

The Hulk and many other super heroes do not just grace the pages of comic books or the small or big screens. They are also fan favorites for video games. Lately, more often than not, anytime there’s a superhero movie coming out, a video game version comes out. And fans eat them up. Below is an article on a few superhero video games for the Wii, including the Incredible Hulk.

Super Hero Games for the Nintendo Wii

Super heroes have been around for a very long time in the form of comic books and action figures. They have found their way to the big screen and even to the world of video games. They are timeless and they never seem to go out of style. It seems in this world of good and evil there is always room for one more super hero to come along and save the day.

If you love super heroes you will be very excited to discover that there are plenty of Nintendo Wii games that fit into this category. The have wonderful effects so you can feel like you are a part of the game. You can bring the characters to life instead of just moving them around. You will likely get lost in the action that is going on.

One of the newest ones out there is Spiderman 3. Set in the city of New York, Spiderman is out there trying to save the day anyway he can. What is very original about this version of the game is that you can go with the regular suit or the black one that Spiderman wears in the movie. When Spiderman is wearing the black suit he is stronger and faster. Yet we all know there are ways in which that suit consumes him so you better be ready for them in the game.

There are complete storylines from the movie that you can play through if you wish to do so. If not, you will have the option to create your own scenes along the way. With this particular super hero game for the Wii you aren’t just trying to save others; you are trying to save Spiderman from himself as well. Will your desire for power be too much and lead to your own destruction? Will not using the black suit though mean you aren’t powerful enough at times to defeat the enemies? There are plenty of cool effects and plenty of great features found in this game that you will be quite impressed with.

If destruction is more your style the Incredible Hulk game may be what you are interested in. He is huge and green and can get very angry when things don’t go his way. Even though the Hulk is attempting to be helpful he leaves a mess every where he goes. You may be having a great time destroying everything in your path but you need to be careful. The more you destroy the more forces will be coming to take you out. That could mean your game ends before you have gotten to explore very much out there.

The game portrays the Incredible Hulk as more of a human than a cartoon version. In fact if you have see the newly released movie then you will understand that there is a connection between the two. It is no accident that this newly released Wii game came out around the same time as the movie hit theatres. Most people agree that they like this humanist form of the Hulk much better.

There is also Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law. With this particular super hero game Harvey has to solve some tough cases. Are you up to the task of helping him do so? There are some that are relatively easy to solve and others that are going to take a great deal of concentration on your part. You can have a great time with this Wii game as well as enjoying sharpening your thinking skills.

The legacy of super heroes lives on with the many Nintendo Wii games. If you have a couple of favorites you can choose those games to play. It can be fun to be a part of those games instead of just reading about that super hero or watching them on TV. Nintendo has done a terrific job of bringing these images to life for people to really get into the game.

The Hulk vs Abomination

The Incredible Hulk movie was good for the Abomination. Prior to its release, not too many movie goers were familiar with the reptilian looking gamma gangsta.

In a lot of ways, the Abomination’s looks had misled fans and movie goers because he seemed to be something born from water. Greenish and reptilian-looking, in some drawings, his ears looked like gills kinda like the Creature from Black Lagoon. But he’s not from the water. Emil Blonsky became the Abomination from an exposure to gamma radiation, just like Dr. Banner.

Even in the movie, Tim Roth’s character transformed into the Abomination from a series of exposure to the blue serum and gamma rays. The process was very similar to the one that turned Ed Norton’s Banner to the Incredible Hulk. Unlike the Hulk, however, Blonsky’s changes were stable and permanent. He had no ability to resort back to human form, but he kept his human senses and intelligence. Presumably, he also maintained his fighting skills and training as a Soviet spy.

The Abomination was one of the few Marvel villains who can outmuscle the Hulk. He did so in the movie and in some comic book issues. He’s actually stronger than the Hulk if the Hulk had just transformed from Dr. Bruce Banner. Eventually, the Hulk will outlast the Abomination and everybody else the madder the Hulk gets.

Because of their similar origins, the Hulk and the Abomination are kindred spirits in a sense. Except that one was always trying to kill the other.

When it comes to the Hulk mask, they are all actually pretty good since the Hulk is a badass. He’s ugly, at least not the most handsome of all superheroes, but he’s badass and many fans wanna look like him on Halloween and in comic book conventions. But there are more than one choices.

The Hulk Costumes: All kinds to choose from

Let’s see. Off the top of my head, I can think of two variants for Hulk costumes. There is the classic Hulk comic book costume (green and purple pants). And there is the 2008 movie costume (darker or olive green with more pronounced muscles and not necessarily purple pants). Everything else seem to stem from these two color schemes in sizes (i.e. adult Hulk costume, child Hulk costume, kids Hulk costume, Hulk toddler costume, baby Hulk costume, childrens Hulk costume, infant Hulk costume, etc.) and/or style (i.e. inflatable Hulk costume, Hulk costume shirt, Hulk game costumes, Ultimate Alliance Hulk costumes, Hulk muscle costume).

When you search for “Hulk costume” on Amazon or other online shopping sites, you get the varying results as listed above. And they’re actually pretty cool looking.

Bowen She Hulk Bust and Statue – Hubba, hubba!

Hmm…whenever we see the Hulk, he’s always pissed, usually snarling, and about to beat-in someone’s head off. Meanwhile, Dr. Banner’s cousin, Jennifer Walters a.k.a. She-Hulk, looks like a fitness model with smiles and curlies to boot. Albeit, she has green skin instead of a golden tan.

Prior to becoming to the She-Hulk, Jennifer Walters was a successful attorney. Receiving a visit from Dr. Banner while he’s on the run after discovering that he’s the Hulk, Jennifer was shot by an aggrieved client. In order to save her from loss of blood, Banner improvised an emergency transfusion. Jennifer survived the shooting and Banner fled for fear of getting caught.

In the meantime, with Banner’s gamma-exposed blood in her system, Jennifer transformed into something like the Hulk. This time, however, the transformation was more continual. She didn’t transform back to the old Jennifer. She remained green-skinned with greenish hue on her hair and grew to 6’7″. Oh ya, she also had green lips. Her best feature.

Jennifer Walters became very strong, though not as strong as the Hulk. As She-Hulk, she was able to lift at least 75 tons. More importantly, Jennifer kept her wit, intelligence, and personality. Hence, she’s not a brutish creature.

Bowen captured the essence of She Hulk in these two figurines – a She Hulk Bust and a She-Hulk Fantastic Four Statue. But really, this is just another reason for me to write a post on one of Marvel’s sexy eye candy.

The Incredible Hulk #1 Cover Art by Jack Kirby

The Incredible Hulk was originally created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby for Marvel Comics in the early 60′s. He first appeared on May 1962 in the titular issue The Incredible Hulk #1. 47 years later the Hulk had become a popular and beloved comic book hero with two theatrically released movies, a multi-season TV show, a couple of running cartoons, a handful of dvd releases, and a slew of comic books lasting over decades. There were kids growing up back then whose children and grandchildren today are enjoying the Hulk as the anti-heroic green brute.

Since the Incredible Hulk lasted through generations, Jack Kirby’s original art works have risen in value as childhood fans grow up to become collectors. Many of them have read comic books in the 60′s and still value what they loved.

ComicVine.com cites that more than 8000 Jack Kirby original art works were made throughout Kirby’s career with Marvel. In the comic arts community website, ComicArtFans.com, there are plenty of Jack Kirby original art works on display that include his drawings of the Hulk.

Comic book Original Arts have come around on their own as a prized art collectible. Original arts are the production pieces that comic book pages are printed from and are usually made out of 11×17 bristol boards. While the materials vary, most old school comic book original arts are in 11×17. They are almost always in black and white before inking.

You’ve probably seen various pictures of the Hulk. The ones that stand out are the gray “Joe Fixit” Hulk and the newer and mysterious red Hulk. The character goes through some changes depending on the storyline. But for the most part, we recognize him as the green goliath, bare-chested, with purple pants.

Throughout his existence, various renowned artists have penciled and inked the Hulk. In the 60′s, after Jack Kirby, legendary artists Steve Ditko, Gil Kane, John Buscema, and Marie Severin took over the responsibilities. In the 1970s, Herb Trimpe, Ron Wilson, and Sal Buscema drew the Hulk for a long time.

In the 80s, Mike Mignola, creator of Hellboy, teamed up with Bill Mantlo for a few series of the Hulk comic books. John Byrne and Al Milgrom also had their stints as artists for the Hulk.

In the 90s, many of us discovered the brilliance of Todd McFarlane through his work with Marvel Comics. My favorite was Spiderman: Torment. He also drew the Hulk along with many other talented comic book artists, Erik Larsen, Jeff Purves, Alex Saviuk, Keith Pollard, Bob Harras, Jeff Purves, Dan Reed, Dale Keown, Sam Kieth, Angel Medina, Gary Frank, Liam Sharp, Terry Dodson, Mike Deodato, George Pérez, and Adam Kubert to name a few.

The Hulk comic books continue today being drawn by some of the top talents in the industry such as Ron Garney, Stuart Immonen, John Romita, Jr., and Keu Cha. The popular series / graphic novel World War Hulk is drawn by John Romita, Jr.
